The Duke Energy RNC Program’s January 2018 technical bulletin, “RESNET/ICC Standard 380,” stated that changes to whole home infiltration and duct leakage testing procedures were effective January 1, 2018. Since this technical bulletin was published, RESNET has adopted an interim amendment that “allows the old Chapter 8 enclosure airtightness, duct tightness and ventilation airflow test requirements to continue to be used for ratings of dwelling units that get a building permit prior to July 1, 2018.” This grace period will allow RNC Program raters time to bring builders into compliance with the HERO Code by way of the new Standard 380 testing protocols.
